Trails Committee Minutes 10/08/2009
TRAILS COMMITTEE
MEETING MINUTES
October 8, 2009

Attendees:  Denny Nackoney, John Schuler, Joan Gaughan, Rina Rub, Lewis Collins, Miguel Lessing, Bob White

We discussed the graffiti problem at the Waban Arches.  Len Cauley of the MWRA said that they are aware of the problem and have a schedule to clean their properties.  If requested, we will provide support for the clean-up.  I will see if the High School is interested in helping in some way.  The Historic Commission is aware of our concerns.  We will continue to be stay involved with all appropriate parties.

The DPW completed the Morses Pond steps which will reduce erosion in the area.  Miguel will clean up the back of the beach area.

On the 9th, the refurbished sign was installed at State St.  Some minor touch-up needs to be done.

Kid's Trail Days went very well.  Over 40 kids and adults participated.  Joan is still looking for artifacts to use in next year's program.

As part of the Weston Rd project the intersection of Linden and Weston is being widened.  A pedestrian light is being installed as well as a short sidewalk on the west side of Weston Rd.  New arrows will need to be installed when the intersection is complete.

The Kiwanis Club expressed an interest in another Spring project.  We will work with them to come up with a suitable project.

Tim Anderson will be moving to Burlington VT and has resigned from the Committee.  We appreciate the work Tim did in the Boulder Brook area.  We need a Doggie Bag refiller and a Boulder Brook monitor.

Miguel will make a laminated sheet for the sandwich board in time for the Spring walks.

We reviewed several hat selections provided by Diane Hall.  The mountain green colored was preferred and we only need a front logo.  The consensus is that we would like a less expensive option.

Our next meeting will be Wednesday, Nov 18th at 7:30.

Bob White

Chairman Wellesley Trails Committee
