TRAILS COMMITTEE
MEETING MINUTES
JANUARY 6, 2009

Attendees: Bob Brown, Len Poitras, John Schuler, Denny Nackoney, Tim Anderson, Jim Elliot, Diane Hall, Bob White

We will make cuts in our FY10 Capital Budget if requested by the NRC.

The Spring Walk schedule was finalized and leaders chosen.  We will do Hemlock Gorge on May 2, Boulder Brook on May 16 in conjunction with WWW, Centennial on May 30, and the Charles River Link on June 6, Trails Day, in conjunction with the dedication of the CRL.

We voted to prohibit the placement of any non-Trails Committee fliers in our map houses.  I will notify Robert McGuane of React Wellesley of our decision.

We voted to reroute the Crosstown Trail around the north end of the Duck Pond.  Denny has forwarded the change to the NRC for their approval.  We will monitor the reroute for wet areas in the Spring.  We will also ask the DPW to wood chip portions or the path.

Jim Elliot was elected Treasurer.  He has worked with Helen MacDonald on our current year expenses and he has created a spreadsheet.  He will prepare an update for each meeting.

Denny has learned that the Weston Forest and Trails Committee has a ten-foot easement on the north side of Peirce Hill.  In the spring, Miguel will request permission from the Wellesley Water Department for a path on the south side of Peirce Hill.  If approved we will mark this short trail which connects to the Weston Trail network.

We will do a thorough inspection of Centennial Reservation in the spring for wet area and develop a plan which will minimize their impact upon our trails in the Reservation.

Bob will talk to Town Engineer, Steve Fader, about the wet area on the Guernsey Path behind Winding River Rd.

Gig Babson will get back to me regarding our request to reroute the Brook Path onto High School property south of Caroline Brook.

Len will order network maps and area maps.

The Scout projects and Carrisbrooke and Rockridge are scheduled for this Spring.  Both Scouts will present their plans to the Wetlands Committee.

Our next meeting will be Tuesday, Feb 2 at 7:30.

Bob White
Chairman WTC
