TRAILS COMMITTEE
MEETING MINUTES
December 4, 2007
Attendees: Bob Brown, Len Poitras, Jim Elliot, Miguel Lessing, Denny Nackoney, Tim Anderson, Bob White. Friends: Diane Hall, Dan Suratt, Marcia Rowlands, Rina Rub
The official numbers for Kid's Trail Day was 35 kids and 15 adults. Joan G had a nice article published in the Townsmen. We will discuss the next Kid's Day at our January meeting. We also will finalize dates and locations for the spring walks at that meeting in order to get the walks into the Rec Program book.
Jim removed 9 baby carriages from the Sudbury Path near the RDF. Haynes and Nelson continue to keep the Charles River Path mowed behind their Walnut St buildings. With a lot of help from the DPW, the Trails Committee and the neighbors had a successful clean up of the Crosstown Trail between Washington and Walnut. After the meeting we sent a letter to the Selectmen asking that they help maintain the path which is under their jurisdiction.
Denny will discuss with the DPW modifying the current large signs which are no longer totally accurate since the paths that they are on have changed names.
Bob will meet with the Needham Conservation Council and ask for their help in getting Olin College's permission to reroute the Sudbury Path near their campus.
The Wellesley Conservation Council is looking for help in updating their Walks in Wellesley book.
The next meeting will be January 15th at 7:30.
