Bicycles and daffodils along the Brook Path signal spring.
Wellesley’s miles of trails are especially beautiful in April and May. New green grass and daffodils come out almost overnight – along with bicycles – an incontrovertible sign of spring.
Here are a few more things that will add to your biking and walking enjoyment:
Ø Saturday morning walks. The Trails Committee is offering a series of four, hour-long hikes, beginning May 1: Guernsey Path, Morses Pond, Longfellow Pond, and Carisbrooke Reservation. You can check out the complete schedule, including dates, times, and where to meet, at each of the map houses, on our Web site, and in the Townsman.
Ø Updated Network Trails guide. Newly revised comprehensive trail maps have been installed in all map houses; small black-and-white reprints are available in the map dispensers.
Ø Individual trail pamphlets. A new trail guide of Boulder Brook Reservation, Kelly Memorial Park and Rocky Ledges is completed and now available at map dispensers. This is the first in our series of guides for individual trail areas in town. Each pamphlet comprises a detailed map of all footpaths in the particular area plus a description of the principal marked trail and related historical and geological information.
These pamphlets are being produced in coordination with the town GIS Administrator, using GPS technology. Additional pamphlets in this series are being developed.
All of our maps are available at the NRC office in addition to the map dispensers. You can also print out any of the maps directly from our Web site.
