"Walking in a Winter Wonderland” – or maybe "Walking in a Wonderful Wellesley Winterland" – by any title, another great trail has been added to our network of recreational paths.
The new trail (marked with purple arrows) runs between Grove Street at Beard Way and Cartwright Road near Beebe Meadow and provides a connecting link to Ridge Hill Reservation in Needham. The trail was developed and marked by the Wellesley Boy Scouts, who have helped so ably and willingly on many trails projects.
The snow this winter is adding an extra dimension to the enjoyment of our trails. Right in your own backyard you can cross-country ski, or snowshoe, or just hike – all in a picture-postcard setting. There’s a whole new beauty and quietness about the woods blanketed in snow – even at night ambient light reflected off the snow is ample for walking and skiing along many of the trails. Don’t miss it.
Maps are available in map houses along the trail system and from the Natural Resources Commission office in the lower Town Hall.
