It is the mission of the Natural Resources Commission to provide stewardship, education and
advocacy of the Town of Wellesley’s park, conservation, outdoor recreation and  open space
resources so that the full value of the Town’s natural assets can be passed on to future generations.

9:05 am            PUBLIC HEARING ON DOG CONTROL ISSUES AT PERRIN PARK/NRC LAND

Discuss “Uses” of Perrin Park and related “issues” raised thereby:
o       Multiple Park Uses include:
·       Neighborhood park uses                                    ?   Tot lot/young child recreation & playground use   
·       Playing Field Use /Youth Sports                 ?    Dog walking        
                                        
o       Issues include:
·       Park use conflicts                                                     ?  Enforcement measures
·       Maintenance, short & long term                              ?  Safety
·       Abutters & neighborhood disturbance                     ?   Health concerns
·       Costs

Presentation of NRC Current Background Data:
·       Map of dogs in Town of Wellesley
·       “Walkable” open space in Town of Wellesley
·       Town and Parkland Leash Law
·       Survey Results of other towns and their leash laws
·       Previously received materials

Hear from all constituencies and listen to their concerns (“open” meeting)


Public Hearing Speaking Ground rules:
v       2 hours scheduled for public hearing (150 minutes)
v       3 minutes maximum per person: (2 for any statement, with follow up questions from commissioners for another 1)
v       If a person is speaking for a group or other individual could they please stand quietly while the person speaks so that we can see how many people that person is speaking on behalf of.
v       We would like to hear from any and all people that would like to voice their opinion, but please try not to repeat what others have said.
v       Anyone who would prefer not to speak but wishes to submit something in writing may do so.
