**  PLANNER  **

        
Position effective July 1, 2008.  Reporting to the Planning Director, the Planner’s work involves comprehensive knowledge of municipal planning and of departmental practices and procedures.  The incumbent develops and refines his/her work routines independently to carry assignments through to completion.  Directions are received in the form of general outlines with detailed instructions received only in unprecedented situations.  The incumbent makes recommendations on comprehensive planning, zoning analysis, site plan review, design review and related matters.  The incumbent represents the Planning Board, Planning Director and/or the Town at interdepartmental meetings, meetings of Town Boards, community groups, and regional and state agencies.  The work requires a great deal of written and oral communication, and attendance at evening meetings.  Requirements:  Bachelors Degree in Planning or a related field or equivalent; one year experience in municipal planning or a related field or equivalent; working knowledge of all applicable laws pertaining to land use within a municipality; and the ability to communicate clearly both verbally and in writing, to accurately read and interpret plans and maps, and to manage time effectively and to prioritize workflow.  Knowledge of transportation planning is a plus.  Salary range is $39,360 - $59,040.  Please submit resume and cover letter, including salary history, to the Human Resources Department, Town Hall, 525 Washington Street, Wellesley, MA 02482 or e-mail as a word document to hr@wellesleyma.gov by May 30, 2008.  AA/EOE




**  LOCAL BUILDING INSPECTOR  **


Position effective July 1, 2008.  Responsibilities of this full-time position include assisting the Building Inspector in enforcing the provisions of 780 Code of Massachusetts Regulations (CMR) R7; enforcing the Town’s Zoning Bylaw and any other applicable Town Bylaws; reviewing applications and inspecting building construction prior to issuing permits for new construction, alterations, or repairs.  In accordance with the provisions of Massachusetts General Laws, Chapter 143, Section 3, each local inspector shall have had at least 5 years experience in the supervision of building construction or design or in the alternative a 2 year Associates Degree in a field related to building construction or design, or any combination of education and experience which would confer equivalent knowledge and ability, as determined by the Board of Building Regulations and Standards (BBRS).  General knowledge of the accepted requirements for building construction, fire prevention, light, ventilation, safe egress; as well as a general knowledge of other equipment and materials essential for safety, comfort and convenience of occupants of a building or structure.  Each local inspector shall be certified by the BBRS in accordance with the provisions of 780 CMR R7, the Rules and Regulations for the Certification of Inspectors of Buildings, Building Commissioners and Local Inspectors. Current certification is preferred. If not currently certified as a Local Building Inspector, the successful candidate must obtain such certification within 18 months of appointment.  The ability to interpret, apply, and enforce building codes and zoning laws; excellent interpersonal and communication skills; valid MA Construction Supervisor license; valid driver’s license.  The FY09 salary range is $43,280 - $64,920.  Please submit cover letter and resume to the Human Resources Department, Town Hall, 525 Washington Street, Wellesley, MA 02482 or e-mail as a Word document to hr@wellesleyma.gov by May 30, 2008.  AA/EOE


MUNICIPAL LIGHT PLANT

Senior Customer Service Representative


Responsible for providing the most responsive customer service possible to all Town of Wellesley utility customers by assisting them with any questions/issues with their accounts.  Successful candidate will have a minimum of three years of related experience including the collection of overdue accounts, excellent communication skills, the ability to analyze customer bills and a strong commitment to providing superior customer service.

The Town of Wellesley offers a competitive salary with excellent benefits. **  SUMMER EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITIES  **

Summer seasonal laborers will perform manual work activities associated with Highway Program work on construction, maintenance and repair projects. Duties typically include various semi-skilled manual activities such as:  painting, masonry, pipe repair, street and sidewalk repair, digging, manually hauling materials, wheel barrowing, jack hammering, job site cleanup. Laborers perform a combination of duties that are of a physical nature, require working in outdoor weather conditions, working in noisy environments and the operation of various power equipment. The incumbents of these positions work approximately 40-hour work weeks, M-F, 7AM-3PM.

Candidates must be at least 18 years of age.  Candidates should have: ability to routinely lift up to 50lbs and occasionally lift up to 100lbs.; ability to operate grounds maintenance and other light equipment; ability to work outdoors and in extreme weather conditions; ability to bend, reach, stoop, and stand for up to 8 hours per day; and a valid MA driver’s license at time of appointment.  Desired qualifications include:  Some knowledge of equipment, facilities, materials, methods and procedures in maintenance, construction and repair activities.

The salary is dependant upon qualifications. $8  to 10 per hour.

Excellent opportunity for individuals concerned about the safety of children. The Town of Wellesley is currently looking to hire School Crossing Guards. We are seeking dependable individuals to assure the safety of school children crossing the streets as they go to and from school. Interested individuals need not be Wellesley residents. The current salary is $12.82 per hour plus $5.00 for working the morning post and another $5.00 for working the afternoon post. Fresh air and smiling children's faces are included.
