The Town of Wellesley’s Facilities Maintenance Department (FMD) is one of the foremost public facilities organizations in Massachusetts. We maintain and operate twenty-nine (29) Town buildings totaling over 1.2 million square feet with a staff of 68 and an operating budget of over $7.4 million. The Town is looking to fill a key management position in the area of custodial management, with an experienced professional with demonstrated leadership skills. The FMD’s mission is to effectively manage its facilities by treating building managers and school principals as highly valued customers. To reach its mission the Town seeks outstanding candidates who are able to work in a fast-paced, team environment and possess excellent organizational, communication and leadership skills.

The Custodial Service Manager manages over fifty custodians and is responsible for all aspects of custodial service including quality control, training, equipment/supplies and professional development of staff.  The incumbent ensures that the needs of the building department heads and school principals are met; develops and implements comprehensive custodial procedures that reflect the overall goals of the department; and directly supervises the head custodians.  The incumbent is the first point of contact for the building department heads and the school principals for building issues that cannot be resolved by the head custodians. The incumbent procures and manages all out-sourced custodial services.

Minimum Requirements:  Associate’s Degree in Facilities Planning and Management or related field or two or more years of training beyond high school, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.  Computer skills including word processing, maintenance work order systems and spreadsheets.  Five years of custodial supervision experience.  School or public sector experience preferred. Anticipated hiring range is $69,500 - $89,000.

The Wellesley Council on Aging (COA) is seeking applications from responsible individuals to drive the COA bus on an on-call basis.  On-call drivers fill in when regularly scheduled drivers are out due to time off, illness, etc., and may also be asked to drive on evenings and weekends as needed.  The COA Bus Driver provides safe transportation to medical appointments, stores, and social engagements for Wellesley’s senior citizens via a 12 passenger wheelchair accessible bus.  The incumbent maintains accurate passenger records and performs daily safety checks.  The work requires a clean driving record, organizational and interpersonal skills and concern for the safety of passengers and equipment.

Requirements:  High School diploma; the ability to read and write English; possession of a valid Massachusetts driver’s license; possession of a clean driving record with no moving violations in the past five years; patience with and interest in senior citizens; and basic familiarity with personal computers and spreadsheet software.  Candidates must pass a CORI check and participate in pre-employment drug screening. Mandatory training will be scheduled.  The position is not eligible for benefits.  Applicants with evening and weekend availability preferred.  The hourly rate of pay is $15.68.

The Wellesley Free Library (WFL) is seeking a fearless, flexible and fun full-time Information Technology (IT) Director.  The current incumbent is retiring this fall after 18 years of service.  Reporting to the Library Director, the IT Director is responsible for all aspects of technology within the WFL.  The IT Director encourages and facilitates the use of technology through creative and practical solutions that enhance the delivery of services to patrons and staff. The incumbent oversees all levels of technology, including network services received through WFL’s membership in the Minuteman Library Network (MLN); WFL’s Local Area Network; WFL’s web site; and all independent computer functions.  The incumbent leads the processes of evaluation and planning for current and future needs for all library technology; actively seeks enhancements to library services by keeping abreast of changing and emerging technologies; and supervises automation and technical training for internal and external customers.  The IT Director directly supervises IT Department staff, is actively involved in administration, and may act as the Library Director in his/her absence if needed.   The anticipated hiring range is $69,600 - $85,000.

Requirements:  Master’s Degree in Library and Information Science, Information Science or related field.  Two years of supervisory experience.  Five years of experience with computers and computer networks.  Extensive knowledge of computer technology, networking, software applications, Windows server operating systems, and web based products and services.  Ability to plan and manage budgets, with two years of budget experience.  Strong oral, written and interpersonal skills.  Ability to work calmly, effectively and accurately in high pressure situations.  Strong conflict resolution and problem solving skills.

                **  SCHOOL CROSSING GUARDS  **

Excellent opportunity for individuals concerned about the safety of children.  The Town of Wellesley is currently looking to hire School Crossing Guards.  We are seeking dependable individuals to assure the safety of school children crossing the streets as they go to and from school. Interested individuals need not be Wellesley residents.  The morning shift is from 7:55 a.m. to 8:25 a.m. and the afternoon shift is generally from 3:05 p.m. to 3:35 p.m.  On Wednesdays, the afternoon shift is from 12:05 p.m. to 12:35 p.m.    Salary is $14.79/hour plus a $5.00 stipend for each shift.  Fresh air and smiling children's faces are included.  Please apply at the Human Resources Department, Town Hall, 525 Washington Street, Wellesley, MA 02482.  AA/EOE
